Masada, the Fortress of Herod

Masada (Hebrew for fortress) is situated atop a cliff top. We took a cable car to view the ruins. It is in the Judean Desert, overlooking the Dead Sea. History has it that Herod had it built as a refuge for his safety, because he was so hated by his Jewish subjects. A movie was made about it, it is a very interesting story.
